Empire State building is a must see. If you get the map you'll get a tour on the headphones told by an elderly new yorker that will help you not only identify the buildings but also get a personal inside view on N.Y.C. in the old days.

This was pretty much a no brainer...All we needed were tickets to the Empire State Building. Another broker told us that there were no moe tickets available. The Empire State Building is a must-do thing in NY. But if you want to go up to the Observatory, try to pick a time when it is less crowded (when they first open or almost closing). We went when there were tons of people so the observation deck was packed and we had to elbow our way through. We had to wait our turn to get a free spot by the railing so we could take our pictures. It was really annoying. Other than that, the views were beautiful.

Way too many people allowed in at a time and way too long of a waiting time. The view from 86th floor was awesome but very hard to see when shoulder to shoulder and chest to chest with people. It was scary to be so congested with people.

I would advise going as early as possible. We did buy our tickets before leaving the UK as we had heard about the very long queues. As we were up early on our first day because of the time difference we took a taxi straight to the ESB and arrived at about 8.30. It was lovely and quiet and not busy at all and very pleasant.

The Empire State Building is arguably a wonder of the world, an icon of New York City and a must for any visitor to that city. The queues to ascend to the observation floor are, however, infamous, so any way to pay for this in advance is to be welcomed. Paying in advance through TourCorp on line is a breeze: you print your voucher at home, take it to the pay desk where it is exchanged for a ticket and you'eon your way to the top. A word of advice, go as early as possible. The building opens at 8:00am. We arrived at about ten past and there was no queue at all, we simply joined the fast-moving line through the lobby and up the escalator to the second floor. Friendly and helpful staff guided us to the ticket office and through 'security' to the high speed elevators that take visitors to the 80th floor. It should be noted that the lobby and second floors are currently undergoing extensive restoration work, but this will enhance the Art Deco beauty of the building when complete. From the 80th floor there is a short elevator ride to the 86th Observatory. From here all of New York lies at your feet, a breath-taking view by day and a sparkling wonderland by night. You can stay pretty much as long as you wish. If you get cold (it is breezy up there!) you can go inside to enjoy the radiators but still see the view. Staff are on hand to advise or sometimes take your family picture with your camera. This is a visit you wont forget and thre is an element of regret when you finally step into the elevator to go down to the streets. You'll want to come back!

Staff members appeared that they did not want to give you any help, they had their job and did it, full stop. The staff seem to concentrate on getting numbers through similar to a cattle auction rather than making certain that members of the public enjoyed their visit. Too many people were allowed around the top viewing area at one time it was like walking around a busy market square. Once you were able to struggle your way to the front the views were fantastic.

It was an excellent tour and experience during our New York tour with my nice and nephew. I highly recommend this tour even the waiting lines for the check-in process are very long and took almost 40 minutes to get through. It was a busy weekend and the Empire State Building is under a 500 million $ modernization.

The observation deck was all you would hope for...even on the three day weekend I went. When you are in line there are guys (legitimate) selling upgrades to the "Sky Ride Tour" that allows you to skip waiting in the first line. Ask a lot of questions about what this "tour" really is. It was not quite what I was expecting...but probably fun if you have children with you. If you have any issues with motion sickness...BEWARE!!! The "movie" you are watching is like you are zooming up, down and swooshing around between buildings in a helicopter...which I'd be fine with in real life..but when watching it on a screen, it made me feel ill. I kind of feel like this part of the tour could have been skipped...It is being sold as a guide to what you're going to be looking at from the observatory deck...which wasn't really necessary. I think most of us have some idea what we're looking for and at. :0) I did not continue to the 102nd floor...so no comment there.

As a 1st time visitor to NYC, I am glad that we took the opportunity to visit the ESB. The views were amazing, to say the least. The very long lines took away from the total experience. We decided to go the extra $15 charge to go to the 102nd floor but would advice others to save the money. The views were much better from the 86th but we didn't want to feel that we MISSED something. The view from the 102nd floor was hindered because of the smudged up, graffiti filled plexiglass.

On the day of our trip to the Empire State Building it was extremely foggy. We went along anyway but were told it was not a good day to visit and the staff could not have been more helpful and courteous in exchanging our tickets for the next day. This was the day we were due to fly back to the UK but they told us to arrive first thing and it would be fine. We did this and had the place to ourselves and a fantastic time there.
