Chelsea is the unrivaled art capital of New York City. Walking past block after block of galleries, it’s hard to imagine that the Chelsea scene has taken shape in less than a decade, when pioneer gallerists like Matthew Marks and Pat Hearn opened the first major spaces here in the mid-90s.

Galleries, restaurants and shops continue to replace the mechanics and taxi shops of old Chelsea, but exciting art spaces are often still located on unlikely looking blocks, sometimes making them a challenge to find. Add to that the sheer volume of galleries and their monthly exhibition schedule, and it soon becomes clear that a little more than a copy of the Gallery Guide is in order to decide what to see in the time you have.

Now that the exodus of galleries from Soho has been stemmed, a new tide of young and hip gallery-immigrants has arrived from Williamsburg, opening side-by-side with their most established counterparts. The mix of emerging and established artistic talents makes a trip to Chelsea unmissable for all, from ardent art fans to casually interested tourists.

From the cutting edge galleries of Chelsea to the treasure troves of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York City offers more art than most people can see in a lifetime, let alone an afternoon. Our private tours allow you to make the most of your time, ushering you straight to the most talked about contemporary art of the moment or the crème de la crème of the city’s finest museums.

All tour itineraries are crafted by Merrily Kerr, an experienced art critic and writer based in New York. Kerr publishes reviews and feature articles in Time Out New York and several international art publications. She and her guides constantly visit a wide range of galleries and must-see exhibitions to map the highest quality art of the moment.

During a standard two-hour tour, we visit between eight to ten galleries within a radius of several blocks. Choose from a set itinerary, updated monthly, or allow us to craft a tour according to your interests. Our aim is to take art addicts and the art curious alike on an enjoyable trip of cultural discovery.

Confirmation & Travel Voucher:

This tour must be booked at least 24hrs in advance of your travel date. Confirmation of this product will be received within 12-24 hours subject to availability. You will receive a confirmation e-mail with a link to your E-Ticket Voucher. Print voucher on your home/ office printer and present SIGNED E-Ticket voucher at the departure location. Only one voucher will be created per tour or activity for all travelers.

Cancellation and No Show Policy:

Cancellations within 24 hours of the tour are charged in full. Cancellations prior to 24 hours are charged a minimum $10.00 per person administration fee. We charge 100% for NO SHOWS. Some specific tours and activities have a higher cancellation fee due to the limited space available.

Recommended for all tours in New York: Comfortable shoes, extra layer of warm clothing, hats, visors and sunglasses. Weather: Tour route or activity may be changed depending on local weather conditions.

Meals, Gratuities and Souvenirs are not included.
