Join us on a Sunday morning in the Black Capital of the world and learn about Harlem. Learn about its start as a rural Dutch community - it's transformation into a summer retreat for New York's most prominent families - how it then became a Mecca for African American writers and artists at the turn of the century, to it's troubled past during the 1960's and 1970's and it's present day community brimming with pride and reveling in it's new renaissance.

 

Along the way you will see famous sights and landmarks such as the St. John the Divine, Columbia University, City College, Morning Side Heights, the Morris Jumel Mansion, Sylvan Terrace, Strivers Row and The Abyssinian Baptist Church, Sugar Hill, St. Nicholas Avenue, where Duke Ellington lived.

Other highlights include and the famed 125th street, Harlem USA, the Cotton Club, and the Apollo Theater, the Schomburg Center for research in Black Culture.

Then, join a local congregation for the Sunday worship service and experience the soul stirring power of Gospel music.

Church Service:

• The Sunday gospel tour includes a visit to a local church and visitors take part in a traditional Sunday service for about an hour to an hour and a half. Proper dress is required to attend the church service. Please - no shorts or tank tops.

January to December: Sundays from 9:30am to 1:30pm

Departure Location:

• Please meet at the tour office located at 690 8th. Avenue between 43rd & 44th Streets. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your confirmed tour time.

• Complimentary drop-offs are offered on all late night tours and most daytime tours from uptown, down to 34th Street. The drop-offs are made along Columbus Avenue, Broadway, and Seventh Avenue.

Handicapped Accessibility:

• With advance knowledge, wheelchair bound customers can be seated in the front row of the tour bus with their wheelchairs folded away in the luggage compartment of the bus. It is mandatory that someone accompany customers with special needs. A maximum of one person in a wheelchair can be accommodated per bus. Private services with wheelchair accessible transportation is available.

 

Payment:

Your credit card will be charged the total amount of products and services selected at the time of booking. We accept Visa, American Express, Mastercard, and Discover Cards.

Confirmation & Travel Voucher:

This tour must be booked 24hrs in advance of your travel date. Your confirmation for this product will be received within 12-24 hours subject to availability. You will receive a confirmation email with a link to your E-Ticket Voucher. Print voucher on your home/ office printer and present SIGNED voucher at departure location.Only one voucher will be created per tour acitivity for all travelers.

Cancellation and No Show Policy:

Cancellations within 72 hours of the tour are charged in full. Cancellations prior to 72 hours are charged a minimum $10.00 per person administration fee. We charge 100% for No Shows. If the tour is cancelled by the tour operator, the full ticket price will be refunded.

Supplier and Tourcorp assume no responsibility for delays caused by accidents, breakdown, weather, conditions of trails, roads, bays, oceans, rivers, airspace and any other conditions beyond control of Supplier, in addition to insufficient numbers of passengers.
